Before I get started, I want to send out a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my beautiful, wonderful wife Jen. She’s celebrating the 11th anniversary of her 21st birthday! I love you babe!
And now on to the post… Before Jennifer and I headed out of town yesterday, we made a quick stop at Macy’s. As I walked in the front door I was greeted with this thing:

Has anyone else seen one of these? It’s a vending machine selling nothing but iPods and accessories. It takes credit cards, and you can purchase nearly every type of iPod or accessory available:

The thing that gets me is that if I’m going to spend that much money on a piece of technology, I don’t think I’ll ever feel comfortable doing it at a vending machine. Let’s say you wanted the 160Gb iPod Classic, and a pair of sweet Bang & Olufsen Earphones… would you be willing swipe your card for $510 at a vending machine??

Would YOU be willing to do that? Am I falling behind the times? Don’t get me wrong… I think it’s awesome that Apple is progressing into new arenas of product availability. I’m just not ready to spend the big bucks on it yet. What about you? How much is too much? Would you be willing to make a big purchase at a vending machine??

Last weekend Jennifer and I headed down to Little Italy to check out the Art Walk, an annual event featuring booth after booth of hundreds of artists and photographers along the streets of Midtown. Shortly after getting there we happened to run into the booth of our absolute, hands down, favorite artist in the world, Lynden Saint Victor.
After seeing his work in a couple of different galleries here in La Jolla, Jen and I totally fell in love with his work. There’s just something about the mood, vibe, and aura of his paintings that just totally draw us in. We’ve wanted to buy a piece of his work for a while now, but never had a living space to hang it.
Well, after running into his booth last weekend Jen decided to by a limited edition print of our favorite work, Le Debutante. Here’s an image of that painting:

If you have a couple of minutes, I highly suggest you browse through the gallery of work on his site. It’s so inspiring! It’s nice to have the print that Jen bought, but I’ve vowed that once we move into a house, I’m going to commission a huge piece from him. I can’t wait!
The coolest part of our visit to the Art Walk, is that Saint Victor was actually there! It was such a pleasure to meet him. Here’s an iPhone shot of him and Jen: (I can’t seem to remember my point-and-shoot camera these days!)

He lived in San Diego for 12 years, but recently moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico. We were so happy to have had a chance to say hi while he was back in town for such a short period of time!
Here’s another one of his paintings I love, called Lady Gaia:
