On Wednesday I drove up to Rancho Santa Fe to shoot some new headshots for 11 year-old Hanna. She recently cut off her long hair to donate it to Locks of Love, an awesome organization that provides hairpieces to kids under 18 that suffer medical related hair loss. Along with the new do comes new headshots!

After one hour, a few outfits and couple of locations around the exterior of the house, we had a batch of awesome new shots. Here are a couple from our afternoon!

*Note to photographers: Every one of these images were shot with my 5D, 85mm 1.8 @ 2.5, at 100 or 200 ISO, at around 1/400th, shifting between AWB and Cloudy WB. This first shot is completely SOOC, except for resizing and sharpening.

Thanks for having me out Hanna and Mary! Good luck with all of your upcoming castings!

A while back I said I’d dedicate a post to my buddy Chad, or “Ch4d” as he likes to be called when referencing my blog. It took a little longer than I had hoped, but I finally had some time to post a couple images from our most recent Army shoot. Chad is one of my favorite people to travel and work with, as he has the driest sense of humor of anyone I know, and constantly keeps me entertained. That, and he’s a pretty talented shooter and director. (Don’t let him know I said that).

I had initially intended to post the MOST unflattering pictures I have, but decided against that. These are only slightly incriminating, but amusing nonetheless…

When a camera is near, he will often pose for a shot:

Doesn’t he look pretty and fancy on this log in the forest?

He’s SO talented that he can talk on the phone and shoot at the same time:

This is a shot of the video monitor screen while setting up the fisheye cam:

I’m not the only one that has to hang over the edge of 50 foot repel towers to get a shot. If you’ll notice from the angle, I’m actually leaning over further, getting a more “extreme” and “kick-ass” angle than he is…

And from our last day of shooting, here’s Chad just after exiting the Chinook helicopter in the background. I was a little jealous that he got to go up in the air this time around. Punk!

I’ll be making one last post about my recent Army trips, a round up of all my iPhone images. I thought it would be fun to document the trip using only my iPhone camera! Chad is of course in many of those, so you’ll see his mug again soon.

Last week before heading out to NYC I did a shoot for NTN Communications, the company responsible for creating the Buzztime trivia game. Buzztime trivia is the game you may have seen in some bars and restaurants using a blue wireless remote, where patrons can answer trivia questions, and compete against other people inside the bar, as well as other bars around the country. They needed a few commercial bar/restaurant images for their advertising. Here a a couple from our morning shoot:

If you’ve never had a chance to play, check it out the next time you see it at your local bar or restaurant!

Last week I flew out to New York for one day to spend a little time with Elizabeth and Shravan. When all is said and done, these two are going to have 4 separate events surrounding their wedding. This trip to New York was the first, for the courthouse nuptials. Next will be another trip to New York in 6 weeks for another ceremony and large party and reception with all their family and friends. A week following that, there will be another reception out here in San Diego, followed by yet another ceremony and reception in Nairobi, Kenya next Spring. Needless to say, you’ll be seeing a lot of these two on my blog in the coming months!

The need for a courthouse ceremony had to do with America’s crazy marriage legal system, and all the timing stipulations they require. Nevertheless, these guys had an amazing day cruising around New York having the time of their lives with a few close friends.

Here’s how it all went down! The details always come first…

The simple and adorable dress:

The killer Armani shoes:

The bouquet and belt to match:

A couple of the groom getting ready:

The beautiful bride!

This portrait was taken in the courthouse, seconds before heading into the chapel. I think she’s relaxed!

The stylin’ groom:

A nice portrait inside the courthouse staring out the window just before heading in for the ceremony:

First married kiss!

Some more of the newlyweds!

After the ceremony at the courthouse we went out for some lunch at Cafe Luluc. In the car on the way over, the groom’s buddy was messing with him while on the phone to Mom:

And here are the guys again walking the last couple of blocks to the cafe:

Not to be outdone by the bride’s crew:

A lunchtime champagne toast!

A fun shot of the whole gang:

After lunch, we all headed over to Jersey City to hop on a boat for a sail around New York harbor. The views and the energy were just amazing. The whole crew had a fabulous time, and I’m so happy I had a chance to be a part the day! Here are a couple shots from the boat:

Thanks for having me out, guys! I can’t wait to see you again in September!
