I’ll post more Army images in the next few days, but today’s post is for my buddy Chad. He tends to get grumpy if I don’t dedicate a post to him every once and awhile. So, here are a couple shots from our trip.

And here he is hanging on to his chopper during the war:

Ft. Gordon, Augusta, GA – Day 1 • 05.19.2009 •

I’m once again on the road for another week of shooting for the US Army. It’s a little tougher leaving home this time, as I had to leave my daughter for the first time. I’m hanging in there, and trying to stay busy to keep my mind occupied.

Normally when I’m out on these shoots or the Army, I get to photograph some pretty cool stuff, like tanks, missiles, grenades, mortars, etc. On this trip I’m photographing soldiers working on and repairing electronic equipment communication equipment. Not the coolest or most interesting subject I’ve ever shot, but I’m trying to make it fun.

Today was my first day of shooting. Here’s my attempt at making Army electronics interesting! Stay tuned throughout the week for more images.

Last week I met up with Rachel, one of my former brides from 2008 to capture a few headshots in Balboa Park. She’s an actress, and needs a couple of updated shots to put in her portfolio. As per usual, in addition to shooting some standard headshots, I snagged a couple fun, artsy shots as well. She’s a very sweet person, and very easy to photograph!

Well, it’s 12:01am on the morning of May 2nd, and I want to be the first person to wish my beautiful, amazing wife a gigantic HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Today Jen will be celebrating the 3rd anniversary of her 30th birthday! We spent most of yesterday relaxing and having a picnic in a park in Old Town with our new baby girl Elliott. Jen just wanted some quality family time in the park, and that’s exactly what we did. I don’t want to get all mushy here on the blog, but I do want to say just how much I love my wife, and how truly amazing she is. Over the past month, experiencing the birth of our first child, and seeing just how exceptional of a mother she is makes me love her even more.

Here is a shot of her and our little girl:

I gave Jen her present a day early, since we’ll be pretty busy on her actual birthday. I posted a TwitPic of the box it came in, but not the actual gift. If I have time, I’ll try to update this post with a picture a little later. Please leave some birthday wishes in a comment below. I know she loves hearing from everyone!

On a side note… If you don’t follow me on Twitter, or Facebook, then you may not know that I’ve created a separate blog for posting pictures of my daughter. Knowing I’d completely saturate this blog with images of her, I decided to create another place to showcase those photographs. The image posted above is also posted over there at the moment. Check out that blog at http://www.elliottlarsen.com.
