Child Portraits at the Playground • 10.10.2011 •

A couple of days ago I headed out to my local park to meet up with a fabulous couple to shoot some fun, silly portraits of their two little girls. We spent about a half hour hanging out, letting the girls have fun, and snapping a few cute images. Here are a few of my favorites!

Corralling two kids under the age of four for a picture together is an art in which I am still learning! : ) But they’re just too cute together…

More fun around the playground:

Queen of the mountain!

Love this shot:

On a side note – I’ll be posting info on this years’ holiday portrait sessions very soon! If you want early priority, contact me soon, even before the info is posted. I’ll only be doing a limited number of sessions this year!

I’m so happy to finally have this post ready to go. Get ready for a ton of photos in this one!

I’ve known Chad and Emily for quite some time now, and was happy and honored when they told me they were engaged, and wanted me to photograph their wedding. They are two of the sweetest, funniest, and kindest people I know. Spending the day with them, capturing the love they have for one another and their amazing family was a much welcomed diversion during a difficult time for me. They took me in and made my job as easy as possible, and I love them for that.

This is the definition of the perfect DIY wedding. Both Emily and Chad are very talented and artistic people, and it showed in their attention to detail, and how smoothly the day progressed. All of the elements at this wedding were conceived and created by the two of them. Chad built the picture frame wall and other little accessories, while Emily painstakingly sewed and crafted all of the rustic, farm-style decor. I was shocked at just how much work they put into their day, and how beautiful it all came together.

Here are a bunch of my favorite shots from throughout the gorgeous day…

The dress! (Altered by Emily to be perfect for her, of course).

Emily had 2 pairs of shoes for the day. White heels, and low cut boots.

The flowers all had pinwheels, a big component in the weddings theme. Her bouquet:

The rings:

The beautiful bride:

To make Chad happy, here’s my special phrase, just for him…

And the groom cleans up pretty well too!

Details!

Emily, just before walking down the aisle… She looks ready, eh?

The Temecula Farmhouse is such a beautiful place to be married:

And here’s a fun black and white series of some ceremony shots:

They had their first dance, at the altar, directly following the ceremony. I thought that was a cool idea!

Married!

The beautiful couple:

Chad and Em, I’m SO incredibly happy for you guys. Thank you for trusting me to both document, and share in your amazing day. I love you both.

I was eagerly awaiting shooting this wedding for quite some time. Not only is the couple incredibly sweet and fun, but their whole family, as well as the entire event staff were extremely welcoming and gracious. I always love it when my couples allow me into their day with the freedom to as much as I want, and where I’d like to shoot to maximize the outcome of their wedding images. It was so evident these two were madly in love the entire day. The couple got ready at the beautiful South Coast Winery in Temecula, CA, and then headed over to Wilson Creek Winery for the nuptials and big party. Every detail was perfect throughout the entire day. Here is just a small (ok, big) sampling of some of my favorite from our day together.

The dress!

When you see hot link wedding shoes, you know it’s going to be a good day!

This brooch bouquet was AMAZING. It was hand made by the bride’s mother, incorporating pieces that had history from their family!

A little dress detail shot during the getting ready portion of the day:

The stunning bride! She was all smiles throughout the entire day!

Walking through the beautiful grounds at South Coast…

Hello ladies!

The groom cleans up pretty well himself!

A fun shot of all the boys:

The proud father, walking his girl down the aisle:

We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day for a wedding!

First kiss!

Yay!

A few shots of the happy couple!

LOVE this shot:

Such an amazing job of setting the reception space by Richard and his crew from Decor with Distinction:

First dance:

And one last shot in the barrel room taken towards the end of the night. I just love all of the barrels lining the walls from floor to ceiling:

Thank you guys SO MUCH for letting me be a part of your day!

View/Leave Comments (2) Engagement Session – Carlsbad Flower Fields • 05.03.2011 •

These two adorable kids are tying the knot up in Temecula, CA in a couple of months, and I cannot wait to be a part of their big day. They were such troopers on this shoot. If you’ve ever been to the Flower Fields in Carlsbad, CA, you know that they do not like guests to walk inside of the actual flower bed areas. Well, that would make for very boring pictures, so these guys were brave enough to run into the flowers whenever I asked them to. (When shooting, I often believe in asking for forgiveness, rather than permission). And sometimes, they even did it next to a bunch of people near the entrance to the park. Needless to say, they made this shoot work! Here are a couple of my favorites from our time together…

See, aren’t they just adorable together?

Thanks for being such awesome rule breakers, guys! : ) I’m looking forward to your beautiful day!

This past Sunday I had the pleasure of shooting another gorgeous wedding up at Orfila Vineyards in Escondido, CA. I always have a fantastic time shooting there, with their wonderful staff, and beautiful scenery. These two lovely kids were an absolute ball to shoot. They’re both incredibly beautiful people inside and out. I seriously could have photographed them all weekend long, and never gotten a bad frame. Here are a few of my favorite images from our day together:

Flats! Smart girl! ; )

She looks super nervous, eh?

Some pretty window light:

Some more portraits of the beautiful bride:

The groom cleans up pretty nicely himself:

I love these 2 frames of them as they did their “first look” before the ceremony:

A beautiful day for a wedding!

Thank you guys for letting me be a part of your special day!!!

View/Leave Comments (4) New Mini-Session dates announced! • 03.28.2011 •

I am super happy to announce my next 2 mini-session dates! It has been months since I’ve last had a chance to offer these sessions. I’ve had tons of inquiries and emails asking about when the next sessions would be available, and I’m finally in a place where I can officially set the new dates in stone! The next two mini-sessions will take place on Sunday May 1st, and Sunday May 8th!

Here are the details:

For a session fee of only $150, you will receive a 30 minute photo session, along with an on-line proofing gallery, a disc of all the hi-res proof images on DVD, and a $75 gallery print credit to be used toward professional, retouched prints. As an added bonus, if you book a session slot, and refer someone else who also books a slot, you will receive an additional $25 print credit in your gallery. These session are available to families, couples, individuals, children, or headshots. I will happily shoot as many groups or people as you’d like, as long as it’s inside of your half-hour time slot. My standard portrait packages begin at $450, so that’s why these sessions are so popular. Each day will be limited to only 4 spots. (The specific times are listed below). The sessions will again be held in Balboa Park, as that location allows for the best opportunity for multiple locations, backdrops and settings as possible during a 30 minute session.

Please EMAIL ME to reserve your spot. I will respond with all of the information you will need for your session. Payment in full by credit card is required to reserve your spot. There are no refunds, but if you are unable to make it to your session, I will do my best to fill your spot, or make it up in another fashion.

The time slots are as follows:

Slot 1 – 5:00pm
Slot 2 – 5:30pm
Slot 3 – 6:00pm
Slot 4 – 6:30mp

Slot 3 – 6:00pm
Slot 4 – 6:30mp

A little artsy, but I like it!

First of all, Merry Christmas Eve to you all! Secondly, I’m incredibly excited to post images from this wedding! A couple of weeks ago I had the extreme pleasure of photographing the wedding of my long time friend, Dana. I’ve known her for 15 years, and she’s one of the sweetest, most amazing people I’ve ever known. Dana and her new husband Andrew had their nuptials on the grounds of her father’s house out in San Diego’s East county. It was a very intimate and emotional day. Here are a few of my favorite moments!

Congratulations you two! You are both incredible. Thank you for letting me share in your day.
